Impasto
If pizza is your craving, you’re going to love this spot that exclusively serves up square pies, both by the slice or whole pie. Classic toppings like pepperoni are taken to the next level with an upgrade (in our opinion) to the delightfully crisp Roni cups that can be hard to find in these parts. You’ll also find unique options like the burrata and peppers pie or the radicchio and taleggio. Since carry-out is a major part of this place’s game right now, they even tell you exactly how to reheat your pie when you get home so it’s as hot and crispy as if you were eating there. (Hint: It involves a VERY hot oven and just a couple of minutes.)
Winona’s
Love seasonal menus that are constantly changing? This is the cafe for you. Jump-start your meal with a hot, crispy app; you might see a crispy scotch egg or arancini on the menu, a perfect couple of bites to whet your palate. Entrees include mouth-watering dishes like milk-braised pork served with broccoli rabe or lamb meatballs served atop parmesan polenta. Plus, to make nights at home even easier, this spot sells prepared pantry foods (and accompanying wine) that you can take home to have on hand for an easy night in the kitchen.
Hometown BBQ
For hearty meat-forward dining, you need to look no further than Hometown BBQ, which has two locations to choose from, an especially nice option when limited outdoor seating can be a hurdle on those nights you just need to get out. Smoked meat is the name of the game here, and choices include pork, brisket, turkey, sausage, and pastrami bacon. (Yes, you read that right.) There’s even a classic Frito pie (if you know, you know) piled high with flavor-packed burnt brisket ends. Don’t skip out on the banana cream pudding at the end!
